Revenues, and number of listings
Clearly, Navent is the leader in Argentina thanks to its acquisition of ZonaProp in 2015 (LaNacion). Not only in terms of visits per month, but also in terms of revenues and number of listings (AIM). Indeed, looking at revenues only, Zonaprop is 3 times bigger than its closest competitor.
Zonaprop, leading real estate website in Argentina
What does Zonaprop look like? If we analyze the homepage of Zonaprop, we can see six categories on the homepage. Apart from the traditional Buy and Sell, we can see a Valuation button too. Navent, who bought Zonaprop in 2015, also recently consolidated its position in Argentina through the acquisition of the CRM Sumaprop.
MercadoLibre, strong in Argentina… and LatinAmerica
Yet, MercadoLibre is a very strong competitor. Indeed, not only does it have a $27 billion market cap currently (Yahoo), but it’s also a very innovating company. While only 20% of MercadoLibre’s revenues come from Argentina, it’s currently making the headlines as a potential huge competitor to Amazon and ebay in Latin America. Among other things, its payments business MercadoPago reached $6.5 billion in total payment volume (TPV) last quarter (Fool.com). So we should keep a close eye on both websites, which are well-funded and should maintain or increase their leadership in the coming years.
