Want to buy a house or apartment in Spain? You’ll need help from a tax advisor.

Why do you need an accountant in Spain?

Even if you’re a non-resident, you have to pay tax on all income generated in Spain. The tax on rental income is called Impuesto sobre la Renta de No Residentes, or IRNR. This tax IRNR is due whether your property generates income or not. You can pay it online on a quarterly basis.

In addition to that, there are also property taxes such as the IBI, Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles, which is collected by the local government (local property tax).
