Average property prices in Malaga province

Malaga is Spain’s 6th largest city with 570,000 inhabitants. Located in Costa del Sol, in the south of Spain, this area is very popular with tourists. Indeed its international airport welcomed 9.3 million passengers in 2017, out of which 8.1 million were from abroad! What’s more, 37% of them were British, 10% German, 7% Dutch, 7% French, 5% Belgian and 3% Swiss.

How much does real estate cost in Malaga’s province?

As I wrote in February, property prices in Malaga’s province vary quite a lot from east to west:

  • Malaga €2120 / m2
  • Torremolinos / Benalmadena €2050 / m2
  • Mijas – Fuengirola €2110 / m2
  • Marbella €3070 / m2
  • San Pedro / Cancelada €2550 / m2
  • Estepona / Bahia Dorada: €2050 €/ m2

According to Idealista’s data (leading property portal), 2.000€/m2 is the average in Malaga’s province. However, according to TINSA (leading valuation company), prices would be closer to 1.600€/m2. What’s more, they would still be significantly lower than their peak of 2.500€/m2 reached at the end of 2007. Indeed, this is stil 36% lower!
