Translate your website into foreign languages

Looking for a great solution to translate your website into foreign languages? Make your website multilingual in less than 5 minutes. Very easy integration. Made for non-tech people. Optimized for SEO.

How to translate my website?

If you’re on this page, you probably own a website. Personally, my blog was consulted this year by people from 192 countries (out of 195). What about your website? If your business is global then your audience is global. Therefore many of your potential customers are foreigners.

So, I’ve been looking for many months for the best solution to translate my website. When I found it, I thought I would share it with you. Indeed, this might be interesting for many other website owners, for example for:

So here are two solutions. The first one is GoogleTranslate, which I used for several years before finding a better solution called Weglot. I will present Weglot in details below, so that you may decide if this is a great solution for you too.

Solution 1 = GoogleTranslate

GoogleTranslate is useless for your SEO

At first, I adopted a simple solution: I installed GoogleTranslate. However this solution has absolutely no positive impact on your SEO. Indeed, the foreigners won’t find your website on Google, if they do searches in their native language. So I had to look for a better solution, and I found it.

Solution 2 = Weglot

Weglot is great to translate your website into foreign languages

  • Weglot is free
  • It’s fully optimized for SEO
  • It takes less than 5 minutes to install it on your website

Ten days ago, I decided to translate my website into foreign languages. Above all, I wanted French, Spanish, Portuguese and German. But also Russian and Chinese.

I needed a solution which would allow me to make my website multilingual in 5 minutes. And a solution fully optimized for SEO. Additionally, I wanted a free solution.

So I created an account on Weglot, and will explain below the benefits, as well as how to do it yourself on your website.

Step 1: creating an account for free

As a first step, I created an account for free on Weglot to discover their services, while not taking risks yet. Indeed I had never heard about this company before. Just like me, you can create your account for free on Weglot by clicking here.

Step 2: installing Weglot onto your website

Second step: I installed Weglot on two of my websites. One is a WordPress, the other is a Squarespace. Anyway, Weglot is compatible with almost all the mainstream solutions which power websites (wordpress, squarespace, wix, shopify, woocommerce, javascript, bigcommerce, jimdo, weebly, webflow, help scout, prestashop, zendesk, magento, ghost crm, etc.). And even if you don’t see your CMS / Web technology, Weglot promises that “you can add Weglot to any website”.

For WordPress: I downloaded the plugin, installed it, then activated it. Fast, and easy. It took me less than 5 minutes to do the full set up!

Step 3: getting more visits from foreigners!

Third step: once I had installed Weglot onto my website, I started tracking the results. Was I getting more international visitors onto my website? Was I attracting more foreigners onto my blog, now that it had become a multilingual website? YES!

Actually, 8 days after having created a free account on Weglot, I received an email telling me: “Congratulations! You already received 1409 visits on your translated pages”.

Just to give you a concrete example: in December, my most visited article was an article on the best real estate websites in Germany. Indeed, this article is in position 0 on Google as you can see below on the screenshot (read about position 0). Now, barely 10 days after installing Weglot, the version automatically translated into French by Weglot has achieved position 5 on Google! Which is extremely impressive in only 10 days!

So if you’re a real estate agent, a restaurant owner, or anyone whose customers can be foreigners, I strongly, strongly recommend that you create an account for free on Weglot to test it out and see how it works for yourself!
