The Strong U.S. Dollar Has Americans Flocking To Europe
Twelve months ago, $100,000 converted into €87,000. Now, they convert into €100,000.
That’s right, the U.S. dollar reached parity with the euro for the first time in two decades.
Americans, but also expatriates around the world feel Europe is the best value it has been in over 20 years.
The best quality of life
InterNations has carried out its annual Expat Insider survey on expat destinations around the world. While France was recognized for its good healthcare system, Spain was voted top expat destination for quality of life.
What about real estate? Where is it most interesting to buy a property in Europe?
The best European country to buy real estate in 2023
How did European real estate prices evolve since 2000 ? The biggest European property markets such as France, UK, Germany, have all increased at a very fast pace from 2010 to 2022. Check the evolution of Global House Prices on The Economist. You’ll see that Germany, interestingly, started increasing from 2010 only. Before that, 2000 to 2010 seemed like a lost decade.
But there is one country that stands out. Indeed, Spain is entirely different. It has not followed the same evolution. We’ve been following Spanish property prices for many years. And Spanish real estate prices are still 20,7% below their peak of 20O8.
That creates an opportunity for investors, who bet on the room for growth.
Especially so as rental prices increase faster than inflation, with yearly increases of +15% in 20 big cities (Expansion). The impact ? Fast increasing rental yields in Barcelona, Madrid, and Valencia, among other Spanish cities.
If you are (very) seriously considering buying in Spain, but need to find a good real estate agent to do that, I advise to contact Masteos Spain. Check them out on Google first, searching for Masteos, as well as Masteos España. You’ll see they’ve raised over 55 million euros, to make rental investing easier in Europe.
You can download the mobile application Masteos, and start viewing rental properties sourced by their local teams of property finders. A significant percentage of their clients are expatriates, people living in Asia, America, or the Middle East, and wanting to buy in France, Belgium and Spain, the 3 countries where Masteos is present.
